Dear Borrower:

The Washington State Housing Finance Commission (the “Commission”) contracted with The Washington Homeownership Resource Center and the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle to provide housing counseling services and to assist our borrowers who may be experiencing difficulty making mortgage payments. If you are in default or at risk of default with your House Key mortgage loan serviced by Bank of America or US Bank, you may be contacted by one of these organizations. The Commission asked these nonprofit housing counselors to contact you to see if they can assist you with any questions or concerns you may have about your loan.

These non-profit HUD-accepted agencies can assist you with information on your options for your mortgage loan and can assist with default counseling services. These services include information on budgeting, loan modifications, forbearance, or relocation options. All services are offered free of charge.

We found this process has been extremely successful in preventing foreclosures and possible predatory lending situations for borrowers who find themselves in this position. Borrowers are often cautious about speaking with the loan servicer and feel more comfortable discussing their options with an unbiased source for counseling.

Please feel free to call us at any time at 800-767-HOME. We are here to help you connect with your housing counselor so you know your options and can make more informed decisions.

Sincerely,
Lisa DeBrock
Director, Homeownership Programs
