Program T11
John
Hickman is the Director of Finance and Operations for Catholic
Housing Services of Western Washington, formerly known as the
Archdiocesan Housing Authority (AHA) of Seattle. AHA was formed in
1979 to provide a wide range of housing and shelter services to
low-income individuals and families. Since then AHA has grown to a
multi-service agency managing an annual operating budget of over $20
million with more than 200 employees. AHA owns or manages more than
45 projects or programs with assets of over $180 million and more
than 1800 units of affordable housing. It has developed a
comprehensive management program to address both the complexities of
serving extremely low-income households and serving the needs of tax
credit investors, public funders and private lenders. In addition to
developing projects for its own portfolio, AHA provides housing
development consulting services to non-profit community based
agencies.
John is responsible for the financial management of the agency,
supervises property management, and is involved in the development
of new projects. He has over 34 years of experience. Prior to
joining AHA in 2000, John was the chief financial officer for two
for-profit companies and was a CPA with Deloitte and Touche. In
addition to his professional work he has been on the board of
several faith based and social service organizations and is a
spiritual director involved with Ignatian spirituality.
