Paul Schissler, a community development planner with
over 25 years of experience in Northwest Washington, recommends
community land trusts to protect the community’s investment in homes
that can remain permanently affordable for future generations of
homebuyers. CLTs can also serve as the “stewards of affordability” when
communities use inclusive housing strategies, like inclusionary zoning,
to create homes people can afford. Schissler is a co-founder of, and
currently serves as president of, the Northwest Community Land Trust
Coalition, in addition to his job as executive director of Kulshan
Community Land Trust.
