Employee
of the Year 2009 — Patricia Williams
Executive
Director Kim Herman (left) presents employee recognition award to Patricia
Williams
The following text was provided by the Employee Recognition
Committee:
How do I describe the Employee of the Year? The person whose
name is listed in BOLD letters when you look up ‘customer service’ in the
dictionary? Perhaps it’s the kindness shown to every employee?
Maybe it’s the positive attitude at all times? Or, the willingness to
take on one more project?
No matter how I try to describe Patricia, it will not convey what she
means to every employee, and many of our clients and partners. Patricia
always takes the extra time to explain something patiently. Patricia
genuinely cares about each of us and will ask about one’s day. And, will
wait for an answer, because she cares! Patricia works closely with every
division and is invaluable to every division. She has been known to assist
with projects at the last minute and always with a smile.
This special award, driven by peers, will be no surprise to her. She’s
won awards before in other organizations. She came to us not knowing whether
she would stay long. And, she lingered a very long time before we had the
opportunity to make her a permanent employee. She touches everything
we do. There have been very few others we’ve felt this strongly about in her
position at the Commission. In fact, only two have had that honor.
Thank you to the best receptionist ever and the 2009 Employee of the
Year, Patricia Williams!
